That depends on your own condition. Generally speaking, your eyes will get recovery 3-4 weeks after retinal detachment surgery. But it takes some people 2 months to get recovery from retinal detachment surgery. And some people can return to work 3 weeks after they have the retinal detachment surgery. So you'd better go back to your surgeon to have your eyes recheck during the following recovery time.

Usually, it takes 3-4 weeks that retinal specialists will let patients resume some activities. Of course, it depends. If there is still gas bubble in your eyes, the doctor won't let your do anything. I heard that keeping the gas bubble in a position to maintain pressure on the former tear area is important. Anyway, after having retinal detachment surgery, you'd better ask your doctor what you should do or not do so as to help you recover quickly.
