Yes, diabetes can sometiomes affect the eyes and cause poor vision. Diabetes are caused by the insufficient secretion of insulin which leads to high blood glucose and metabolic disturbance. Generally speaking, there are two main complications that diabetes affect on the eyes, that is, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic cataracts. This is because that diabetes can impact the functions of the small blood vessels around the eyes and lead to eye arteriosclerosis. People who have diabetes get the chance of blindness ten to twenty-five times more than those people who have not diabetes. Therefore, for people who have diabetes, it is vital to control their levels of blood pressure, blood glucose, as well as blood lipid. In addition, if the people with diabetes are diagnosed as diabetic cataracts, then they may have to take an eye surgery.

It is true. My aunt got diabetes many years ago and she has always suffered the eye problems very much for a long time with vague vision earlier and now it is bleeding. First of all, as the health of our eyes is relevant closely to the health of our visceras, and diabetes can destroy the kidney so that will influence the eye blood provision. Besides, diabetes can damage the subtle vessels behind your eyes which will affect the normal metabolism there and then induce eye problems like keratohelcosis, glaucoma, and even cataracts. If you are a diabetes patient, you have to pay attention to your eyes. Hope that will help.

Well, generally speaking, diabetes can just lead to some eye problems, including poor vision. Generally speaking, diabetes will carry a higher risk for glaucoma, cataracts and retinopathy because of the damage to the blood vessels that support the eye. Also, poor eye sight can be possible, when high blood sugar levels because of diabetes cause the lens of the eye to enlarge. And then, the changed shape of the lens leads to blurred vision. By the way, you should know that pressure and swelling resulting from diabetes can cause permanent damage to the eye. According to some researches, people with diabetes are 40 percent more likely to have glaucoma and 60 percent more likely to develop cataracts. Anyway, just be careful about it.
