For people who first time wearing progressive glasses, it is not a pleasant time to get used to the progressive lenses. And the adjust time is different from each person. Some people may get used to the eyeglasses about 3-4 days. But there are also some people need spend about a week. Anyway, if you still can't get used to the progressive glasses over one week, You'd better visit an eye doctor and listen to her/his advices.

Not all progressive lenses are created equally, by that I mean they are different. I personally have worn eyeglasses since I was 6 years so I do have quite a bit of experience. I can only wear the brand Varilux of the progressive lenses. Eye doctors have tried putting other brands on me,that wear cheaper, but I can not get use to them. I know Varilux are probably one of if not the most expensive, but your vision can not be short changed with lenses that just don't work!

Well, indeed, sometimes people will encounter some kind of uncomfortable feelings during the initial phase. However, it is not strange, it is only a matter of time before your uncle gets used to wearing the progressive glasses, typically, it take about one week. But, you should make sure if the glasses are suitable for him specifically. Otherwise, there will be more harm than good I think. If things get worse, take him to the store and see what can be done about it.

In fact, progressive lenses have many focal distances. It is a normal phenomenon that people will feel uncomfortable when they wear progressive eyeglasses for the first time. It will take you about a week to adapt them and the indisposed feeling will disappear gradually. When you accommodate progressive lenses, you will benefit from them for they can control your eyes prescription. Besides, progressive eyeglasses can relieve the weary feeling from continual readjustment focal distance.
