Can anyone tell me if myopia is the same as astigmatism?

After an eye check, the doctor told me that i have a mild astigmatism. I never heard that and can't understand what the doctor told me. Is that the same as myopia?

No, there exists the big difference between the myopia and the astigmatism which can be shown from their definitions.Not using the adjustment role, parallel light rays pass through eye refractive system and form the focus in the retina. Around the retina, there is dispersed and fuzzy aperture. Such refractive state is called myopic eye. While the astigmatism is caused by the cornea in each direction of the bending inconsistency, with some direction is strong and some direction is weak. Thus, when the light rays pass through the cornea, the focus is not on the same point, with some before and some fall after.

Nope, they are two different eye disorders. Myopia is also called nearsightedness, which is a common vision problem that could not see close objects clearly, and the far away objects would be blurred. A common sign of it is difficulty with the clarity of distant objects, like TV or cinema screen, the chalkboard. And astigmatism is another common vision problem that causes blurred vision due to the irregular shape of the cornea so that the vision becomes blurred at any distance. Most people have some degree of astigmatism, the slight astigmatism, like your situation usually do not affect vision and do not need treatment.
