Ortho-K (short for orthokeratology) is a nonsurgical procedure using specially designed lenses to gently reshape the curvature of the eye while you sleep to improve vision. Specifically, Ortho-K corneal reshaping lenses only affect the cornea of the eye. The cornea is the clear part of the eye that covers the pupil. The cornea is critical in maintaining a sharp focus on objects by bending light that enters the eye. iSee%u2122 Ortho-K lenses gently reshape the first few microns of the cornea while you sleep. Once the lenses are removed in the morning, the slight change in the curvature of the corneal surface results in clear vision during waking hours, thus reducing the dependency on daytime contact lenses or glasses. With iSee%u2122 Ortho-K corneal reshaping lenses, 20/20 vision can be restored in as little as one day to one month depending on severity. The best part is that iSee%u2122 corneal reshaping is safe, non-surgical, non-invasive and reversible. Results may vary so ask your doctor if iSee lenses are right for you or your child.

    Ideal candidates are patients who:
%u2022 do not want to wear contact lenses during the day
%u2022 are children that are beginning to be nearsighted
%u2022 are too young for Lasik
%u2022 are active in sports and water activities
%u2022 want a less expensive alternative to Lasik
    %u2022 want a non-surgical and non-invasive alternative to surgery

The Ortho-K lenses are the corneal model form using the special inverse geometry design. They are composed of multiple segments in the inside surface. The lenses and tear layers are distributed uneven, resulting in the change of corneal geometry by fluid mechanics effect which can reasonably shape the corneal. Thus, it can reduce certain myopia, scattered photometric and significantly improve the light myopic barefoot vision. They are usually worn during the sleep. The method of wearing is just like that of contact lenses. The main purpose of them is to make the corneal bending flat and short the eye axis to release the symptom of short-sighted eyes.

Well, first, you should know that Ortho K lenses are manufactured from a special highly oxygen permeable material. In other words, they are made of special material which can provide you the perfect services. For example, when you wear them during the night, these lenses apply a controlled shape to the window at the front of the eye which we can say as the cornea. In this way, they can eliminate your short sightedness. This effect stays strong enough for you to function the entire day without spectacles or contact lenses. So it all depends on your needs. Maybe you could have ones.
