What can cause high ocular pressure?

I went to see the eye doctor with my sister. The doctor told us my sister just got the high ocular pressure. What is ocular pressure? I have heard "pressure" before. But I don't know whether "ocular pressure" has some relation with that "pressure". Who can explain it for me and tell me what will cause ocular pressure and how to cure it. Thanks a lot!

High ocular pressure equals to ocular hypertension which means the pressure in your eyes. But the pressure is higher than normal. It is different from the pressure you know. I know that it can be caused by excessive aqueous production. And inadequate aqueous drainage can cause high ocular pressure too. Certain medications will lead to high ocular pressure.

High ocular pressure can be called ocular hypertension. An injury to the eye can cause ocular hypertension, because it damages the balance of aqueous production of eyes. Some eye conditions including pigment dispersion syndrome and corneal arcus is associated with ocular hypertension. If your sister is under such kind of situation, the eye doctor may recommend her to have more frequent eye exams. I also know that People with a family history of ocular hypertension will be at great risk to suffer from this. I don’t know how to cure them. But I hope this answer can help you too.
