Photophobia is a fairly common symptom. For many people, photophobia is not due to any disease. Severe photophobia may occur with eye problems and can cause severe eye pain even in relatively low light. But the treatment depends on if you have a serious photophobia or not. When you just have a little feeling of it, you can try to do some care such as avoiding sunlight, closing your eyes, wearing dark sunglasses. If you feel pain, you should go to see a doctor and take some professional test, and then decide what the cause is and which treatment you should take. For people with acquired photophobia, the most effective treatment is to remove the underlying reason. For instance, you should replace the current medication that caused light sensitivity. Once the triggering factor is removed, photophobia will go.
