Can pink eye cause astigmatism?

Is it possible to get astigmatism from pink eyes? Or what will cause astigmatism?

    Astigmatism refers to the uneven curvature that parallel light 5 meters away would travel through the cornea and focus at different points. Because of the multiple focuses on retina, the image is blurry. For people with astigmatism, the vision up-close and at distance is blurry. It is very easy to lead to eye strain. While pink eye is the so called conjunctivitis, which is eye inflammation caused by bacterial or viral infection or allergic reaction. Astigmatism is a refractive error while pink eye is a kind of eye infection. They are totally different and there is no direct causality between them. As to treatment of astigmatism, people can take refractive surgery to correct it. As to pink eye, in most cases, warm compress could help a lot. Although pink eye would cause blurry vision too, the vision would restore after the infection clears out.

    Pink eye is very common. It usually is not serious and goes away in 7 to 10 days without medical treatment. Generally speaking, pink eye is redness and swelling of the conjunctiva. It is also called conjunctivitis. Viral and bacterial pinkeye are contagious and spread very easily. Pink eye can be caused by chemicals, smoke, fumes, dry eyes and infections. While pink eye can cause redness in the white of the eye, swelling of the upper eyelid, which may make the lid appear to droop and clear or slightly thick, whitish drainage. Astigmatism is easy to cause eye sight problems, especially blurry vision. All eye problems are related with each other. So there is no doubt that pink eye can cause astigmatism, but this rate is not high. That is pink eye exists a certain degree to lead to astigmatism. Plus, if you really get pink eye, you’d better stay at home and receive medical treatments.
