Can eyelid surgery cause dry eye?

  Yes, after the eyelid surgery, it is possible to have dry eyes. As we know that if you do not have the necessary balance of these three layers in your eyes, or if your eyes do not make enough tears to coat the eye, you may have dry eye. Also, dry eyes, can be caused or worsened by poor tear quality, poor tear production, allergies, and infection. So if your eyes are infected by some irritants, it can be easily for you to have dry eyes, after the surgery. And also may make your situation become worse. So you can use some eye drops to make your situation better. And also can stay away from the irritants which are the causes. Besides, after the surgery, there are also many things you should pay attention to, for your eyes are sensitive and fragile. For example, you should avoid eye injuries by wearing a protective shield at night and with naps until you are advised by your doctor. Also, you should remember not sleep on the side of the operated eye for the first night.

  Yes, after the eyelid surgery, your eyes may feel a little dry. However, it is temporary which can be well after some time. By removing the excess fat in the eye skin and muscle, the eyelid surgery can correct and remove sag on eyelid and bloated eye bags. It may need 1-3 hours time in the hospital to get the surgery. There may be some side effects after the surgery which may be temporary. You may have the short discomfort eyelid, have tight feeling, swelling, bruise, drying, burning sensation and so on. If you don't want the eyes to be dry, you could eat more food with vitamin C which could add the water to the eye parts to get it moisturized. You should not smoke or drink which will cause the dehydration. Even the spicy food may stimulate your skin.
