  No matter you had an ophthalmologist or an optometrist to check your eyes, a complete eye examination shall include an evaluation of the retina where signs of macular degeneration could be noted. Nevertheless, if you want to care your macular degeneration that recommendations for follow-up examinations, vitamin supplementation, laser or medical therapy, you shall visit an Eye M.D.

  In a comprehensive eye exam, an ophthalmologist or an optometrist would check your retina where signs of macular degeneration could be founded. The eye doctor can also check your eyes for other eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataract and other problems that could lead to vision loss. In most cases, early detection and treatment of eye diseases can help reduce your risk for permanent vision loss.
