In eye prescription, PD stands for Pupillary Distance. Besides, there are also Near PD and DPD (distance PD). Sometimes, they are required especially when you buy bifocal or progressive glasses. And usually, people's PD is usually for distance vision. If you want to buy eyeglasses to help you see far, you can use your DPD. If you want to buy eyeglasses to see near, you suggested to use near PD. And usually, the difference between Far PD and Near PD is about 2-3mm. And still there are some people who calculate it by the rule: Near PD = [Distance PD mm * (10 * Reading Distance cm)] / [(10 * Reading Distance cm) + 27]
