Will the contact lens be very thick if I have strong prescription?

I've been wearing glasses since I was 10 and I really hate wearing them, I want to change for contacts,but I have strong prescription,-8.00.Will the contacts lenses be very thick just like the glasses?

No. contact lenses would not be thicker if you have stronger prescription, instead Focal length of contact lenses decreases.

Contact lenses have the same thickness no matter how strong your prescription is. No evidence has showed the contact lenses will be thicker if you have stronger prescription.
