This might happen if you have another illness and your infection does not get better in a week without treatment, you might need antibiotic eye drops and ointments for bacterial pink eye. The antibiotics are usually taken as eye drops or ointments, the infection should improve within a week, and begin to improve within a few days. But Viral conjunctivitis cannot be treated with antibiotics. Antibiotics have no effect on viruses; they are used to fight bacterial infections.so it depends on which kind of conjunctivitis do you suffer.
