Can a sinus infection cause bloodshot eyes?

  Yes, sinus infection may cause bloodshot eyes. There is a very close relation between eye sockets and paranasal sinus as they are next to each other. Eye socket is surrounded by paranasal sinus. So when you get a sinus infection, it is very easy to infect your eye sockets as well. Generally speaking, when people have sinus infection, their eyesight will decline and have blurred vision. As we all know, bloodshot eyes are caused by the violation of external injury and microorganism. So when you have sinus infection, you may have chance to have bloodshot eyes. But it is hard to confirmed that whether your bloodshot is caused by sinus infection, so you must go to hospital to check and take measure to treat sinus infection.

  Yes. Once you have the sinus infection, your immune system will decrease. And the throat, nose and eye nerves are interlinked. The sinus infection will easily make the eyes dry. What's worse, the dry eyes may get serious into the bloodshot eyes that will make your eyes look red. Thus, you'd better cure the sinus infection first.

  It is rare, but it maybe. Sinus infection often happen in your nasal passage. But if the nasal passage cannot adequately drain, and if there are also inflammation or infection, it will make the infection to other parts. One of the most symptoms of sinus pressure is a throbbing headache that manifests itself around the sinuses. Besides, a deep pain in the eye sockets can form as well. And that further to damage your eyes.

  Not really, I can not make sure that sinus infection will cause bloodshot eyes, but I know that sinus infection are always happened together with puffy eyes. Puffy eyes are a common symptom of sinusitis often blamed on lack of sleep or general illness.
