Do transition glasses work in a car?

I have heard that the car windows block UV light which would mean that the lenses wouldn't go dark in a car. Is that true?

Yes. transition glasses won't work well in a car. Transition glasses can change the color only when the UV rays hit them. While the car windows block most of the UV rays, so the transition glasses can't turn complete dark when you are in a car. So it's not a good idea to use transition glasses in a car.

Transition glasses can change to dark lenses in sun because of UV rays in the sun. When the lenses meet UV rays, it will adjust to dark automatically so as to against the UV rays ,thereby to protect your eyes. If there is no UV rays, of course, the lenses won't adjust to dark lenses.
