Which one is better, polycarbonate lenses or high index lenses?

I have the same prescription of -5,00 in both eyes. The regular glasses I use now is a little thick and my eyes look small with them on. So I want to get a new pair, but I don't know which one I should choose, polycarbonate or high index lenses. And what index should I choose? 1.67? 1.70? Any suggestions?

As you have a strong prescription, you'd better not get the rimless glasses even with hi-index lenses because they will be still thick. In my opinion, a small, full framed pair of eyeglasses with a 1.67 lens will meet your needs. However, Actually, eyeglasses with the high index lenses will also make your eyes look smaller because it has nothing to do with the thickness of the lens, but the power of the lens.

Polycarbonate has an index of about 1.56. According to your prescription, polycarbonate lenses will still look very thick. So I suggest you get high index lenses with an index of 1.67, which will make your lenses look much thinner.
