Can using eye drops everyday really protect your eyes?

I often have dry eyes after working on the computer all day. My collegue adviced me to use eye drops and it does work.But I wonder if it really protects your eyes.Would it cause any side effects?

No. Using eye drops everyday will make your eyes relay on them. Most eye drops contain anticorrosive which can cause eye diseases if you use eye drops everyday.

Overusing eye drops can cause side effects to your eyes.Most eye drops contain antiseptic which will do no good to the cornea and retina. Also they can affect the normal producing of tears. So don't rely on the eye drops too much.
