For many years, people with astigmatism can wear hard contact lenses to correct astigmatism. However, people find these hard contact lenses uncomfortable to wear, though they may provide the sharpest, clearest vision for people with astigmatism. Today, soft contact lenses called toric lenses are an alternative for astigmatism patients. There are all kinds of toric lenses including colored, disposable, and multi-focus. If your doctor have told that you cannot wear soft contacts in the past, now your eye doctor can make you try again. People with astigmatism can wear soft contacts which give them more comfort, more flexibility, and more convenience. As for people with both astigmatism and presbyopia, monovision is used to correct both astigmatism and presbyopia by prescribing contact lenses with a modified prescription, hence one eye can view distant objects, and the other eye can view near objects.
