I think it's true, the driving glasses have anti-glare, or anti-reflective coating, which can allow more light in and also cut down on glare. It works well for driving.
As for me, they can improve night vision and improve vision for driving at night. Because the polarized lenses reduce the glare from all bright lights that come along with night driving.
My eye doctor suggest me to buy a pair of driving glasses. And he gave me the best option for night time driving is a pair of spectacles with clear lenses and an AR coating.
