Hello, the swelling after the cataract is very normal, 10% of cataract operations may result in corneal edema, and accumulation of fluid in the cornea causes swelling. Fortunately this kind of swelling is usually temporary will not last for a long time. It usually disappears after a few days.

The swelling eyes after the cataract surgery are the temporary symptom. The swelling eyes can be lasted for about a week if you get good protection for the eyes. You should have the good rest for the eyes. You should not eat the spicy food which may stimulate your eye nerves. After several days, you could see whether the swelling eyes get release.

Most of the patients will recover from the swelling in few weeks, and if you treat it carefully you can make it happen in just one week. It's generally known that cornea swelling after cataract surgery occurs in about five percent of patients. The symptoms can be quite similar to the symptoms of cataracts, and you may also suffer pain in the eye, the foreign feeling etc. My suggestion is that try to use the eye drops to smooth the pain and use hot bag to do massage .I hope that can be helpful.
