They may just wear the sunglasses for the looks. The pros of the sunglasses are that they can help your eyes from the uv rays of the sun lights. They could protect your eyes to some degree. In addition, they will make you look cool and special. However, the cons of wearing the sunglasses are that your eye vision may be prevented to some degree when you are indoors. You'd better not wear the sunglasses inside the room which block your eye sight.

Some professional poker player can read other people's body language. Sometimes when we are talking or do other things, our eyes will give out too much information. So the professional poker player wants to use sunglasses to cover part of their facial expressions.

Some players will bluff a hand, while their eyes can't tell lies. The professional players will wear sunglasses to cover their eyes to avoid leaking the truth. And I also think they wear sunglasses because they really make them looks more cool. I have seen poker player wearing sunglasses in many films. I think this can enhance their images and create the special atmosphere for the film.

I think it is not wise to wear sunglasses when we are playing with cards, because the lenses of the sunglasses can act like a mirror so that other people can see what cards we have in our hands. This situation only happens in a film because the film makers want to make the actor looks more cool and attractive. Then the film will be very popular. I have never seen the poker players wear sunglasses in my life. Plus it is very inconvenient to play cards with sunglasses because the sunglasses darken all the things around them and make them hard to notice other people's facial expressions.

Er, I think they may want to cover their embarrassed looking by wear a pair of sunglasses. We know that when we lose, we may become angry. And the angry looking is always not attractive. If I wear a pair of sunglasses, you will never know that how I hate you because you win all my money.
