There are many types of carotenoids such as β carotenoids. β carotenoids are beneficial for eyes because they can be converted into the active form of vitamin A known as retinol. As we know, lack of Vitamin A can cause night blindness, reducing ability to fight infections. So β carotenoids can reduce the risk of night blindness. Also there are non-provitamin A carotenoids. They are antioxidants that are concentrated in the macula of our eyes. They may reduce risk for AMD.

Absolutely yes. It has bilberry extract, which is good for eyes. Bilberry extract can protect eyes in weak light because it is full of Vitamin A. But the main function of carotenoids is slow down aging, and its anti-mutant effect is outstanding. Food with vitamin A is good for eyes, such as liver, milk, eggs, carrot and potatoes and so on. Hope helps.

Yes, this kind of compounds cannot be synthesized by human body, but plays an important part in the functioning of retina. It's a kind of cytochrome, mostly exist in chloroplasts of plant cells and bacteria with photosynthesis. They can lose and receive electrons continually, playing the role of electron-carriers. This is also a process of being oxidized and restored. So if absorbed by human body, they will be a family of antioxidants, which can slow down the aging process.

Carotenoids are good for your eyes, because when the carotenoids get into your body, the enzyme can make it change to vitamin A in the liver and small intestinal mucosa. It has the function of enriching and improving eyesight, and can cure night blindness. Under the general rules of keeping eye health, keeping eye clean, you also should not have partiality for a particular kind of food, only in these ways, you can not give the opportunity to eye disease.

So far, we found more than 600 types of natural carotenoids, only very few of them such as β-carotene can be converted into vitamin A which serves the important function in human health. Some researches show that carotenoids can reduce the risk of serious disorders such as degenerative eye disease, cancer and some other disease. So try to eat more orange-red colors foods like oranges, tomatoes, and carrots. They are helpful for not only our eyes but also our body.
