Which is better glasses or contacts ?

I have my eyesight checked the day before yesterday. The doctor told me that I just had the mild myopia. I need a pair of glasses. But my friends told me the contacts are better than glasses. Really? Can you tell me which one is better and why?

Personally speaking, I much prefer to the contacts. I've worn glasses when I was in the elementary school. I have broken 5 pairs of glasses. I began to wear contacts since I was 17 years old. Now I am 25 years old. I think contacts are more convenient in our daily life.

Well, I am a mild myopia too. I prefer glasses to contacts. I only use glasses to read the blackboard when I was in school. After school, I can manage my homework without the glasses. I can play football and watching TV without glasses too. Once I tried the contacts for one time, I got my eyes infected in the end. And they do really make my eyes dry. So I think glasses are better than contacts.

Dude, I think glasses are much better than contacts. They can serve as a kind of decoration on your face. They won't make you feel uncomfortable except when kissing. And they can protect your eyes from radiation if they have anti-radiation coating. And sunglasses are irreplaceable in summer or when driving. On the contrary, contacts will make your eyes dry and you'll easily get infected.

From personal experience, I find contact lenses much better. Here is why:
    1) In glasses, you only have a certain field of vision. You often find yourself looking out of your glasses, and they can always slide down your nose.
    2) It's tough to play sports, or ride roller coasters and do many more things in glasses. Think about it: Something is sitting on your nose, precariously, and call fall off and crack with the slightest accident.
    3) Most importantly, glasses often detract from a person's self-esteem, especially if that person is a teenager. Like it or not, people subconsciously (the key word here is subconsciously) categorize people who wear glasses as nerds/geeks; a categorization which often detracts seriously from a person's view of himself. Glasses look good on very few people.

Actually, keep in mind that one is not necessarily better than the other. each has its pros and cons in terms of vision, ease of use and eye health.
Referring to eyeglasses, they require very little cleaning and maintenance, you don't need to touch your eyes to wear them, and glasses are cheaper than contact lenses in the long run since they don't need to be replaced as often.
Regarding to contacts, contacts sit directly on your eye, so vision, particularly peripheral vision, is unobstructed. You can participate in sports and outdoor activities without fear of eyeglasses getting in the way, falling off or breaking. You can even change the color of your eyes with color contact lenses.
