Eye strain usually occurs when your eyes get tired from intense use, such as driving a car for a long time, reading or working at the computer for a extended periods. And it's just a symptom not a eye disease. When people are concentrating on a visually intense task such as reading fine print, using the computer for hours at a time, or trying to see in the dark, they may get eye strain. And exposure to extreme brightness or glare will also cause eye strain. So people will not get eye strain because of migraines. On the other side, eye strain may cause headache.
If you do feel that you get eye train, try to adjust your lighting to maximize illumination while minimizing glare, and take frequent brief breaks from the visual task. If your eye strain is caused by computer using, then increase the resolution of your screen. And leave more distance between your eyes and the computer as well as the material you are reading. If those don't work, go to see your ophthalmologist.
