Why is there dark spot on the back of eye?

When I was having eye exam, the opthamoligist found there is a dark spot on the back of my eye. My vision doesn't seem to be affected by this but what caused the dark spot? Can it indicate any eye disease?

Spots on the back of the eye can be the result of an injury or disease and should be valued to prevent blindness, The spots may cause gradual vision problems or come on suddenly. In the early stage of the dark spot, you may see fine, but gradually You may start to see floaters, or spots that seem to move across your field of vision. So you'd better see the doctor and take some precaution work.

If you have got an eye injury before, the dark spot could be extravasated blood. If the dark spot seems to move when you move your eyes, it could be eye floater. It won't damage your vision.
