In common, blocked tear duct is a result of an improperly formed tear duct that obstructs the tear drainage system. And referring to some researches, when the duct cannot drain the tears, they have nowhere to go and may collect in the eye and cause irritation. In that way, it will just have some dangerous symptoms. And it will be more serious for children too. At this moment, you can just try milk, which is often recommended by pediatricians as a treatment for children with blocked tear ducts. Anyway, you can have a try.

Sure, blocked tear ducts are very common in children and there are about 5% of babies have problems with their tear ducts, for those children, they usually do not need treatment and most of them will clear up after one year and there are 85% of children with blocked tear ducts get better on their own. But you can still do some massaging on your child's tear duct, which may open it. If it is not reduced for a long time, you can go to the doctor and have some check and treatment.

This phenomenon is commonly happened on new born babies. Blocked tear duct is duct bottom partial or complete blockage by congenital epithelial which is still not broken after four weeks at birth. Don't worry about it because 95% babies will be fine in 6 months. Blocked tear duct will disappear by itself. If 6 months later, this condition is still exists, then go to see an oculist as soon as possible. Here I wanna recommend you several home remedies that help with blocked tear duct. Firstly, apply a warm and wet washcloth to clean the eyelids(not use the same place to clean eyelids). Secondly, use a lean finger to rub the area from the inside corner of eye toward the nose gently, which is called massage. The two ways should be taken 2-3 times a day. If your baby's condition still has no change, visit a doctor and drop some basic drops under the instruction of an oculist. But this way just works for 6-13 months old baby at birth.
