Yes, it is possible to lead to cataract because of using too much computer. When we play computer games, we tend to fix our eyes on the screen without blinking, which is liable to lead to loss of water in the eyes and strain the eyes, making them acid and pain. Gradually, one develops myopia, conjunctivitis and even glaucoma after spending too much time on computer. To prevent it, you should ensure that your eyes have enough rest, you should rest for fifteen minutes at least after using computer one hour. And you need to replenish water to your eyes in time, you can drip some eye drops to keep your eyes lasting watery. In addition, you need to supply your eyes with essential vitamin and mineral substances, thus you should eat more fresh vegetables, potatoes, fruits, coarse food grain such as maize, sorghum, millet in the diets.

No, normally speaking it is impossible to develop cataract because of prolonged working time with computer. Causes of cataract including aging, trauma and sunlight and radiation. Many people think so because in their minds computer would produce radiation, so that the cataract might be triggered. But actually, what computer produced radiation is electromagnetic radiation, while microwave and ionizing radiation are the trigger to cataract. Nearly every type of household electrical appliances can produce electromagnetic radiation, but it is total within safe range. Eye exposure to sunrays will cause cataract. There is a study saying that wearing sunglasses at the early stage could effectively slow down the development of cataract. Sunray exposure is the most common reason of cataract. So if you want to prevent it, make sure to wear sunglasses whenever you need to expose to the sun. Quit smoking would be helpful. Take some supplement of vitamin E and vitamin C. Add some food in daily diet rich in lutein, zeaxanthin and omega-3 fatty acid.

Working on a computer all day will have no impact on the worsening of your glaucoma"

According to the National Eye Institute, glaucoma can be caused by structural or chemical anomalies in the eyeball. It can also be caused by an injury to the eyeball. None of the causes of glaucoma listed by the American Optometric Association or the National Eye Institute indicate computer use as a cause for glaucoma.

The cause of cataracts may be the illuminate of the sunshine and ultraviolet. From the effect of ultraviolet, the phosphor ions may combine with the calcium ions of aging crystalline lenses to form the insoluble calcium phosphate. Then the crystalline lenses will get calcification and hard. When the crystalline lenses' protein is getting denaturation, the cataract has been caused. The endocrine disorder will also lead to the appearance of cataracts, especially the diabetes patients. The tough working condition, e.g. oxygen deficiency as well as high temperature will decrease the contents of sodium, potassium and vitamin C, will also cause the formation of cataracts. If the computer's rays are too bright, it will also hurt your eyes of cataracts. You would eat more vegetables as spinach, broccoli, and cabbage mustard which full of anti-oxygen lutein and zeaxanthin to protect your eyes from the damage of sunshine and prevent it from to get the cataracts.
