Can dry eyes cause photophobia?

  Well, yes, dry eyes can lead to photophobia. As we know that dry eyes can be caused by eye infection from bacteria, viruses or environmental agents, such as pollens and other irritants. On the other hand, for photophobia, some disorders, problems and conditions can cause it too. You should know that an infection or inflammation that irritates the eyes can cause photophobia. So when you get dry eyes because of irritation, it is possible to have photophobia. Anyway, just be careful about it.

  It is not good for you to have dry eyes because sometimes it could give rise to a lot of problems which could make you suffer, such as photophobia and watery eyes, or painful eyes. Anyway, dry eyes could of course generate photophobia because these symptoms are relevant and simultaneous. What you can do is try to prepare for long term treatment, try to get some vitamin pills and change some living habits.

  Yes, as far as I know, dry eye can cause photophobia because of the uneven tear film. when the light enter the eye, it will hit the retina at irregular angles. But photophobia is not purely caused by dry eyes. For example, the inflammation of cornea, damage to surface of cornea including abrasions, ulcerations, erosion and so forth can also cause photophobia.
