Though it's 3 and a half years ago, maybe this will help someone else. After cataract surgery, one of my eyes developed a bag under it from ocular fat. Never a hint of this before. My take is that rather than being told to "calm down," some attention should be paid to damage to the septum because of stretching or other trauma during surgery.

I developed eye bags and significant wrinkles to face after eye surgery. I looked 10 years older overnight.

Cataract surgery is an ocular surgery that remove turbid crystal and insert transparent man-made crystal.Once you take a cataract surgery, vision will likely seem blurry or cloudy. If a person has other eye conditions that result in vision loss, such as macular degeneration, cataract surgery cannot return lost vision. While most eye bags under your eyes are the result of accumulated fat in the eye area. This happens when the septum surrounding the eyeball weakens, causing the outer layer of fat within the socket to sink forward - making it look like you have literal "bags" under your eyes. Therefore, cataract surgery won't cause eye bags under eyes. Please calm down.

Omg the same happened to me. I think they stretch the eye open and it doesn't recover. They don't take precautions or tell you that could happen. I had no under eye bag when I went in for surgery. Now I've age ten years in my eyes. I'm sorry that I had the surgery. They have developed an eye drop that may dissolve cateracts I was not told about as well. People be careful!! Doctors just want money for unnecessary surgeries.

Just had cataract surgery 3 daysa ago on right eye. Noticing dark circles under my surgical eye as well as other eye (non-surgical). Is this caused by the surgery or due to the anesthesia still in system? What can I do to alleviate them?

Modern cataract surgery is one of the safest of all surgical procedures, it doesn't cause eye bags under your eyes. Eye bag appears when the quantity of orbital fat accumulates or the balance is changed due to the fragile lower eyelid backing structure. The formation of eye bag has something to do with heredity. With age growing, dermatolysis and muscle relaxation can give rise to eye bags. Not having a good rest can also cause eye bags. What's else, weeping, eye infection, food, drugs, or cosmetics irritability could lead to eyelid edema.
