Does bungee jumping cause retinal detachment?

  Well, it seems that you are planning for a bungee jumping with your friend and you have the fear that you may have retinal detachment right? So, as far as I know, we are not likely to get retinal detachment since our pupils are not that fragile as long as you don't do anything too fierce, and basically, everyone of use should pay more attention to our eye health. Anyway, if you cannot conquer the fear yo can just close your eyes right?

  Yes, it has high possibility to cause that, especially when you are high degree of myopia. Because of myopia is commonly known as nearsightedness, which means the light comes in does not directly focus on the retina but in front of it. In other words, the axis of the eye would be longer than normal when you are nearsightedness. In this situation, when you are doing bungee jumping, the vitreous liquefaction would provide a weaker support to retina. It is extremely easy to cause retinal detachment even blindness when you have over 600 degree of myopia to have bungee jumping. Therefore, you have better not take this activity.

  Well, I can not say it will cause retinal detachment when you have the bungee jumping. In my opinion, if you have health eyes and your vision is good, maybe there is no problem for you to have the bungee jumping. But on the other hand, it you are a near-sighted person who has worn glasses for a long time, you are not supposed to have bungee jumping because it's easy to cause retinal detachment. When you have the bungee jumping, the gravity will play a great effect on your situation. So you should pay more attention to it. If necessary, you can go and take an eye test and make sure you are suitable to have bungee jumping.
