Sty is a common eye disease, which means meibomian gland or eyelash follicle around the sebaceous glands by acute suppurative inflammation caused by bacterial infection. First, sty is not contagious, but as it is caused by eye inflammation, it is recommended that you and your family need to be careful and not to share the basin, towels and other daily necessities. Sty is caused by infection. If you use unclean hands to rub the eyes, it can cause eye sebaceous infection. Pay attention to eye health, do not rub your eyes with dirty hands, in order to avoid the bacteria entering the eye and cause infection.

If the sebaceous glands and meibomian gland of your eyes suffered a acute pyogenic infection, you may have this kind of disease, it happens just because of infected, so it is not contagious, like a infected wound which on a guy did not have the ability to let another wound on others get infected . It does have such case that if your live with a patient with eye style , you may suffer the disease too. But it is not because of the patient but because of the existing bacteria. So do not worry too much. Usually, it could disappear after 4 or 5 days .You can use a damp and hot towel on your eyes for 20 minutes every day and it will help you recovery. But never try to use some rude ways to broke the stye and not eat excitant food, Fried grilled food. Of course, if the illness gets worse, you had better consult a doctor. This kind of eye disease may be caused by some reasons such as excessive fatigue, emotional tension, oily constitution, Personal hygiene ignored and so on. To prevent recurrence, you should relax yourself and pay attention to personal hygiene.

I should tell you that an eye stye isn't contagious. An eye stye is basically an infection of the sebaceous glands in the upper or lower eyelid. This infection causes discomfort and sometimes pain; it also does not look very nice. People who have a stye often worry about infecting other people, and in turn, other people often avoid those currently suffering from a stye. But the truth is that it can only be transmitted through a direct touch. Referring to the cause of eye styes, styes are caused by infection. Bacteria are widely spread, and can be found even on healthy skin. Poor hygiene often leads to eye infections, resulting in one or more styes. Constantly touching the eyes with dirty hands, wearing dirty contact lenses or using expired cosmetic products increase the possibility of getting a stye.

Yes, it's contagious. The eye stye is an eye disorder that is infection of upper or lower eyelid. When you get the eye stye, you would feel not comfortable and painful sometimes, it doesn’t look nice as well. Some people would worry about the eye stye would be infected to others. In fact, every bacterial infection is contagious as well as eye stye. However, the eye stye only can be transmitted to the other person only through direct contact. That is to say, if the infected person rub his/her eyes and touch one object to leave the bacteria, and another person touches the same object and touch eyes, maybe he/she could get the eye stye. On the other side, it’s a common sense that not to rub eyes with unclear hands, thus the eye stye is not considered as a highly contagious infection.
