  Ask for the eye doctor, and they will tell you that decongestant eye drops such as naphazoline ophthalmic , which can help get rid of the redness of bacterial conjunctivitis, but not the infection. There is no treatment for pinkeye due to a viral infection

  Many common viral eye infections resolve on their own. In cases of severe viral eye infections; however, eye infections clear up, particularly with prompt treatment such as prescription antibiotic eye drops or ointments and compresses.
