What does the doctor mean by cataracts are yellow?

I have cataracts and think about having cataract surgery in the near future. But the doctor said the cataracts are "yellow" and I should wait longer. I can't understand what does the doctor mean by cataracts are yellow.

Age-related cataracts usually tend to be yellow in color. There are different grading system for cataracts from mild yellow to severe yellow. Some doctor would ask patients to have surgery until cataracts get "ripe" which is severe yellow.

That depends on the grade for cataract. For mild yellowing, it means 10 percent of pupil is obscured by cataract and 3 percent of back surface of lens is obscured by cataract. For moderate yellowing, it means that 10 percent to 50 percent of pupil is obscured by cataract and 30 percent of back surface of lens is obscured by cataract.
