Can contact lenses also provide UV protection?

I don't want to wear the big sunglasses for UV protection, and I wonder if the contacts can do the same job as sunglasses do.

Though some contacts are made to give some degree of UV protection, they cannot give the same effect as sunglasses to protect the eyes. Because contacts don't cover all parts of your eyes but only cover the iris and pupil.

Of course the can't can't do the job as sunglasses do.They are worn directly on the eyes and cover only the iris and pupil, but not the rest of the eye.
