  With some adjustments, those with low vision can live independently, continue to carry out daily activities and take pleasure in hobbies. In the home, remember the following general guidelines: increase lighting for tasks; control glare; use magnification; and increase contrast. Over time, people with low vision will likely come up with individual, innovative solutions to reflect their needs, help them function better in the home and increase their enjoyment of life. Seek help through friends, family and volunteer groups to implement these adaptations.

  Nowadays, you can use many technologies to help you with the independently daily life. Many of today's newer technologies have applications that can help with low vision. For example, e-readers allow users to adjust the font size and contrast. Many smartphones and tablets can also be used to magnify print, identify cash bills and provide voice-navigated directions. Organize and label. Designate spots for your keys, wallet and frequently used items in your refrigerator. Mark thermostats and dials with high contrast markers from a fabric store; label medications with markers or rubber bands; and safety-pin labels onto similarly colored clothing to tell them apart.

  Many services are provided for low vision. such as, Adjustment to vision loss counseling, Training in safe movement and travel; white cane training, Training in independent living skills and home management, Low vision clinic for enhancement of residual vision, Assistive technology information and demonstration, Vision loss information and referral, Educational services including e-newsletter, classes & workshops. Fees for service are based on a sliding fee scale. No one is turned away for inability to pay. Low vision clinic services may be covered by Medicare and other insurance companies.

  If you have low vision, you may have trouble driving, reading, or doing small tasks such as sewing or making crafts. You can make changes in your home and routines that help you stay safe and independent. Many services will provide you with the training and support you need to live independently.low vision means that you have not completely lost all vision.you could Contact an ophthalmologist or go to the emergency room
  immediately. Many forms of vision loss only give you a short amount of time to be successfully treated.
