Mostly how durable it is, how it look ie colour of residual reflection, how easy it is to wipe and how much it smudges. Some claim to enhance vision by filtering particular light ( typically blue). They all work on same principle and do the same job. Cosmetics apart most of big makes will have similar products under different name and premium price offering to enhance ease of use and durability. Cheap no names tend to be a lot more difficult to clean and much softer ie scratching fast. Peeling and craze of coatings nowadays thing of the past on all but cheapest offerings.

Eyeglass lens coatings offer protection, comfort and a better appearance at the same time. Optimum surface coatings turn eyeglass lenses into individual masterpieces that are perfectly suited to their owners and their owners' requirements. The hard coating. In the hectic pace of everyday life, sometimes glasses end up lens-down on the table. For this reason, your glasses should in particular offer long-lasting protection against scratching of the eyeglass lenses. Therefore, when buying glasses, it is highly important to think about the quality and lifetime of the hard varnish coating. The more active you are, the more important is the protection of your eyeglass lenses. Antireflective coating.Seeing well and looking good is what antireflective coating for eyeglass lenses is all about. This is because eyeglass lenses without an antireflective coating produce light reflections or mirroring effects that are distracting both for the wearer and the person he or she is talking to: firstly through the eyeglass lens into the eye of the glasses wearer and secondly on the eyeglass lens for the observer. Both are equally distracting.Particularly glasses wearers who spend a lot of time in face-to-face conversations and/or drive a lot should select the best possible antireflective coating.Clean Coat coating.Clean Coat and antistatic coatings such as those integrated in the high-end LotuTec coating from ZEISS make eyeglass lenses antistatic and hydrophobic.

A lens coating is exactly what the name implies, an ultra-thin layer of material that is added to the front and/or back surface of a lens. It's not uncommon for both lens treatments and lens coatings to be offered individually or bundled into single lens products for convenience and maximum benefit to your eyes. UV Protection: The UV rays in sunlight can be harmful to the eyes. Lenses that block 100% UVA and UVB help to ward off the damaging effects of UV radiation. Photochromic lenses and most quality sunglasses offer UV protection.Scratch-Resistance: Scratches on lenses are distracting, unsightly and in certain conditions even potentially dangerous. They can also interfere with the desired performance of your lenses. Scratch-resistant treatments toughen up the lenses making them more durable.Anti-reflective Treatments (AR): For fashion, comfort and clarity, anti-reflective treatments are the way to go. They make the lens nearly invisible, and help cut glare from headlights, computer screens and harsh lighting. AR can enhance the performance and appearance of just about any lenses!
