How often should you have a sight test?

Does anyone know how often you are supposed to get your eyes tested? I only had mine done about 8 months ago and bought new glasses but recently I have been getting quite bad headaches, especially when watching TV and working on my computer. I usually go around every 3 years but someone told me that I should get them tested every year! I;m sure this can't be right. I'm only 23 year old and i don't even have a strong prescription.

Your eye sight can change at any time, due to a number of reasons. I recently had my eyes tested at Boots opticians and they sold me new glasses but soon after i went through a very stressful period of my life. Very quickly this caused my eye sight to change, according to my optician. it can be linked to your general health and stress levels apparently.

I'm not sure if this applies to everyone but my optician usually calls me to remind mine is due about every 2 years. I'm 25 years old and only wear glasses when I drive. My prescription hasn't changed in 4 years but I still go every 2 years just to make sure my sight is OK.

My prescription had changed.My prescription is very strong. I like wearing glasses. I changed the lenses after 4 years.
