Yes, what your mum says is right. It is bad for the eyes when you use the smart phone too much time with little rest because of the radiation from the screen. Your eyes will get tired easily which may get short sighted. You should better not do this and take notice of this. You should have the good rest for the eyes now and then during your using of your smart phone. The rest is very important for your eyes.

Yes, it is true that using phone too much is harmful to eyes. It can lead to the decrease of eyesight. Due to frequent use of phone and long time of exposing the eyes to the phone screen in a short distance, the ciliary muscle is in a nervous state for a long time, resulting in the extension of the axis oculi, which will cause the vision to be poor. In addition, it is liable to cause dry eyes. After glaring at the phone for a long time, your eye muscles will be fatigue. With the decreased amount of blinking, the tear duct secretes less, giving rise to dry and uncomfortable ocular area, hence dry eyes. Some even develop keratitis or conjunctivitis. Therefore, your mother is right, you should control the time you spend in playing phone. After a certain time of playing the phone, you should rest your eyes and do some eye exercises. Keep the distance between your eyes and the phone 5 to 60 centimeters.
