Are iritis and uveitis the same thing?

  Iritis is the same as anterior uveitis which is one of the types of uveitis. Uveitis is defined as the inflammation of the uveal tract which is made up of the iris, the ciliary body and the choroid. Other parts of the eyes such as retina, the optic nerve, the vitreous humor and the sclera can also be affected. There are four types of uveitis: anterior uveitis, intermediate uveitis, Posterior uveitis and panuveitis. If the inflammation occurs in the anterior part of the uveal tract, this condition is called anterior uveitis or iritis. Anterior uveitis or iritis is the most common type of uveitis. Uveitis can be treated by cycloplegic and steroid eye drops. Dark glasses, painkillers and surgery are also applicable

  No, iritis and uveitis are not the same thing to the eyes. Uveitis refers to inflammation of the iris, ciliary body and choroid. Iris and ciliary body blood supply with iris big ring. Thus they often ihave nflammation at the same time. It is always called iridocyclitis. If choroid inflammation is happened at the same time, it is also called uveitis. Uveitis is a kind of multiple in eye disease in young adults, phyletic. It is various, with complex symptoms at the etiology. The improper treatment can lead to blindness. Iris inflammation is an eye diseases which is the inflammation of the iris. Sometimes the iris ciliary body behind is with inflammation. Iris inflammation, irritation of tiny white cells and small blood vessels leak too much protein in eyes, float in the aqueous humorin the iris. If the cells floating in the aqueous humor is too much, they will attack the back of the cornea which will precipitate in the aqueous humor. They are different. But their treatment is through the medical treatment with anti-inflammation.

  Generally speaking, iritis and uveitis are not exactly the same. Eyeball wall is divided into three levels, the middle layer called uveitis, also known as pigmented film, which is made up of the iritis, ciliary body and choroid. A portion of uveitis getting inflammation can affect each other. The reasons of uveitis are very complex; there are external factors, internal and secondary cause. Uveitis is intractable, and prone to recurrent, and often lead to serious complications such as secondary glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, optic atrophy, and lead to blindness sometimes.
